Privacy Policy

LitterCheck ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application that connects to smart litter box sensors to monitor air quality (VOC/ammonia levels) and provide real-time cleanliness status for your cat's litter box.

This Privacy Policy explains what information LitterCheck collects, how it is used, and how it is protected. By using LitterCheck, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

LitterCheck collects the following categories of information:

We do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers (unless you contact us for support)
• Location data
• Contacts or calendar access
• Payment or financial information
• Health or biometric data about you or your household members

The data LitterCheck collects is used solely to provide and improve the app's core functionality:

• Display real-time litter box status — sensor readings are fetched and analysed to show whether your litter box is Clean or Dirty.
• Show historical logs — past sensor readings and camera snapshots are retrieved so you can review trends over time.
• Track cleaning history — cleaning timestamps are stored locally so the app can calculate how long it has been since the last clean.
• Provide cat health recommendations — based on the number of cats you enter, the app adjusts recommended cleaning intervals.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the app's intended features.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes.

Sensor readings are stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database, which is accessible by the device that writes them (your hardware sensor) and the app you use to read them. Firebase operates under Google's privacy and security standards.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal processes, but we have no mechanism to identify individual users without a support contact being initiated by the user themselves.

LitterCheck uses Google Firebase Realtime Database for cloud storage of sensor data. Firebase is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure and benefits from Google's enterprise-grade security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Local data — device profiles, preferences, and cleaning history — is stored using Flutter shared preferences, which is encrypted by the operating system's secure storage on both iOS and Android.

You can delete all locally stored data at any time by removing the app from your device. Sensor data in Firebase is associated with your device ID; to request deletion of Firebase data, contact us using the details in Section 10.

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data under applicable privacy laws (including GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations). These include:

• Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold associated with your device.
• Right to deletion — request that data associated with your device be permanently deleted from Firebase.
• Right to portability — request an export of sensor data associated with your device.
• Right to object — object to certain uses of your data.

Because LitterCheck does not collect account information, requests are handled by providing your device ID (found in the app's Settings page under your device profile). Please include it when contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address listed in Section 10.

LitterCheck is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.

LitterCheck integrates with the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash reporting services beyond what is provided natively by Firebase.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of LitterCheck after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
